The Anatomy of a Car

The best way to learn how to work on anything is to properly learn it’s methods of operation. Cars are very complex pieces of machinery. Same as a Doctor must learn the anatomy of a human being, we must learn the anatomy of a Car.

Most people know at least a little bit about the operations of the Human Body, but not many people know a lot about the operations of an Automobile. Therefore learning the similarities can help to bridge the gap of knowledge and understand the basic operations.

The following comparisons are some things that I have noticed to be similar, they are all pretty close in operations. Feel free to comment below and add any ideas that you have!!

~ Engine: Heart ~

The Engine is there to produce the power to make the Car run. The Engine is the same as the Heart which makes our Body move and operate.

~ Oil system: Blood/Veins  ~

Oil is pumped through the engine in a low/high-pressure system consisting of many different pipes and tubes. It acts the same as our Heart which pumps Blood throughout our Body.

~ Fuel system : Food/nutrients ~

An internal combustion Engine only operates if it is fed Fuel, the same as the Body only operates properly with the right intake of Food/Water. The Fuel Tank acts as a Stomach for the Car and provides storage space for extended operation, much like the Stomach does for the Body

~ Air Intake system: Breath/Lungs ~

Besides needing fuel, an Engine needs a clean source of intake air in order to properly run at the desired capacity. It is the same as our Body, which requires the right Breathing patterns to stay alive.

~ Exhaust: Intestines~

Burnt “digested” Air/Fuel is sent out of the Exhaust system, same as waste Foods are sent out through the Intestinal passages

~ Suspension: Legs/Knees/Joints ~

Our Legs and Knees operate the same as the Suspension in a Car, absorbing and distributing the weight between the Body and the Ground.

~ Wheels/tires: Feet/Shoes ~

The Wheels are vital to the movement of the Car, and the Tires help to ease that movement. Same as our Feet are vital to the mobility of our Body, and Shoes help us get around more comfortably.

~ Transmission/Drivelines: Muscles/Bones ~

The Transmission and Driveline assemblies help to connect and direct power from different parts of the Car’s powertrain, same as Bones and Muscles help maximize efficiency and connect the mechanical side of our Body.

~ ECM/Electronics: Brain/Nervous system ~

The Engine Control Module(ECM) is used to control proper Engine and Emission functions through various different circuits and sensors. They are all connected the same as a Body’s nervous system is all attached back to the Brain.
